For 2010- Papera Ranch Heirloom Wine

I will write at greater length later on this, but it looks like Bedrock Wine Co. will be getting a very mixed block (about 50% Zin and 50% Carignane and other mixed blacks), from Papera Ranch in Russian River Valley.  The vineyard, planted in 1934, and saved from being ripped out and planted to Pinot Noir by owner Stuart Coulson and Mike Officer of Carlisle Winery, is located near the intersection of Olivet Lane and Piner Road.  It is a huge honor to be asked to try my hand at the fruit, as the remainder of the vineyard goes to Carlisle, Williams-Selyem, and Novy– all who make wines that I love.  As one would expect, the farming looks to be absolutely impeccable, and lies on distinctly different soil types than Dolinsek Ranch (huichica gravelly loams vs. sandy goldridge loams).  I am SO pumped!
